Day 1: Depart Naracoorte by coach

  • Bruny Island - Taking the ferry to Adventure Bay, we begin an authentic gourmet journey, surrounded by incredible scenery. Be on the lookout for the elusive white wallaby, adding an element of excitement to our adventure. Our expedition leads us to the home of Bruny Island's succulent Oysters, indulgent Fudge, exquisite Wine and much more. Sample these delectable products, savouring each taste whilst uncovering the stories behind their harvest and creation. With contented bellies and appreciation of the island’s gifts, we return to Hobart to rest up before dinner.

  • Heading out of Hobart, we stop at the historic town of Richmond. The town is as elegant today as it was in the 1820’s, when it was an important military staging post and convict station linking Hobart with Port Arthur. Nestled in the Coal River Valley, this classified historic town is famous for its Georgian architecture. The stone buildings now house galleries, teashops, craft boutiques and museums. We’ll stop for a photo of Richmond Bridge (1823).
  • Old Kempton Distillery. The grand coaching inn, built in 1842 by convict embezzler turned-innkeeper, William Ellis, was one of the finest inns on the road from Hobart to Launceston where weary travellers and their horses could rest overnight. The convict brick stables, once home to those tired 22 horses, are now used for maturing and storing our whisky. The cellar door offers a wide variety of tastings of Old Kempton Distillery products. We enjoy a guided tasting of 4 Old Kempton Spirits and an Antipasto platter for lunch.
  • Ross,(1430) a garrison town with one of the most beautiful remaining old bridges in Australia for a quick stop. Before arriving at our hotel, we include a visit to the Bicheno Blowhole for a photo stop and then check in for the night.

  • Travelling along Tasmania’s stunning east coast for a memorable day of natural beauty. Cruise beneath the pink granite peaks of Freycinet National Park on the Wineglass Bay Cruise, enjoying Vista Lounge seating and lunch onboard. In the afternoon, travel along the coast famed for its crystal-clear waters and brilliant orange lichen-covered rocks.

  • Our day starts with a visit to Pyengana Dairy Factory for a guided tour and tastings where they have been handcrafting traditional cloth-matured farmhouse cheddar for over 130 years.
  • Take a short rainforest walk through Weldborough Pass before continuing to see the Legerwood Carved Memorial Trees.
  • Lunch today is at Bridestowe Estate Lavender Farm, We have lunch on arrival and take a tour of the farm – one of the world's largest single commercial lavender farms, producing the finest quality lavender flowers and lavender oil.
  • Cataract Gorge Reserve , a rare natural phenomenon in central Launceston. The unique George, surrounded by cliffs, bushland and beautiful gardens, can be explored by land or by the world’s longest single span chairlift (own expense). When we are all ready, we shall check into our hotel for dinner.

  • Beaconsfield Gold Mine and Heritage Museum, housing Australia's only waterwheel-driven stamp battery.
  • Seahorse World for lunch followed by a guided tour which offers a rare chance to see seahorses in captivity. The working farm and aquarium gives a rare insight into the mystical and elegant seahorse at various stages of development, along with the leafy sea dragon and the Pipe Fish. We also stop at Platypus World right next door.

  • Yarns: Artwork in Silk. The main highlight of this attraction is the light and sound show presentation in the auditorium. We explore the indoor and outdoor museum at leisure
  • Sheffield – a delightful village near Lake Barrington. Sheffield (named after the famous town in Yorkshire) has put itself on the “Tourist Map” through murals – huge and fascinating murals, most depicting the early history of the area - on every available blank wall.
  • For lunch we call into the Anvers Chocolate Factory just outside Devonport. The “House of Anvers” is a real chocolate sensation. It is located in the property formerly known as “Wyndarra Lodge” – a stylish 1931 Californian Bungalow with mature trees and plants from all over the world.
  • Stanley for a guided visit of the Highfield Historic Site, offering insight into early colonial life in Tasmania’s north-west.

  • We enjoy lunch at the Cradle Mountain Hotel before meeting our guide on our Park Explorer Tour introducing the region’s ancient forests, unique wildlife, and dramatic mountain scenery. The Park covers an area of almost 125,000 hectares characterised by a rugged, glaciated landscape with over 25 major peaks and today we are taking a guided tour of some of the highlights. A bus meets us for our journey into the glacially formed Dove Lake to view the jagged peaks of Cradle Mountain, so named after its resemblance to a gold mining cradle. As the local driver shares his knowledge of this spectacular area, we have time to stretch our legs and admire the inspiring, dramatic views. Our day concludes when we arrive in Strahan and settle into our rooms for the next 2 nights of the tour.

  • We are in for a stunning day as our World Heritage Cruise takes us across Macquarie Harbour into the Gordon River, an area of the ancient Huon Pine trees. You’ll see these and other trees of the dense forest close up on a Heritage Walk. Stumble across the remains of the 3-storey jail house on Sarah Island and take a firsthand view of the only entrance to Macquarie Harbour, known as Hells Gates. It’s a great day topped off with a beautiful buffet lunch.
  • The afternoon is yours to relax and enjoy the township of Strahan before meeting tonight for dinner.

  • Travel through the incredible UNESCO World Heritage Wilderness Area. Travelling through the pristine wilderness of the Franklin Gordon Wild Rivers National Park, you’ll stop at the easily accessible Nelson Falls. The walk has brilliant education signs giving explanation on how the habitat has evolved and the plants unique to this part of the work before the lush rainforest opens up to a picturesque waterfall.
  • Visit the beautiful carved works on the Wall in the Wilderness, depicting the hardship and perseverance of the people of the region followed by lunch at Derwent Bridge Wilderness Hotel.
  • Travelling through the Mount Field National Park, to Russell Falls, arguably Tasmania’s prettiest waterfall. Forming as one of three falls that share the same watercourse, wander through the mossy, deep green forest and watch the water cascade gently over multiple levels creating a beautiful waterfall. From here, we continue to the capital, Hobart
  • Breakfast and dinner at hotel | Lunch at Wilderness Hotel
  • After breakfast, we check out of our hotel and check in at Hobart airport for our flight to Adelaide.
  • On arrival in Adelaide, our courtesy coach will be ready to take you home to Bordertown and Naracoorte.
